Somewhere between my part-time gig working for an architectural conservator, becoming recently fascinated with Baroque art, reflecting on my brief preacher’s kid childhood, and my default state of surrealism and psychedelic interests, I conjured up this series of illustrations (this is the first of at least 3). The act of understanding spirituality has been reduced to a series of morse code blips in an unconscious world, and I wanted to capture what my psyche is like at this moment in time. Various outer forces threaten to smote our inner worlds, but really, how could they?

Printed in small batches at Risology Club, the piece layers bold risograph inks — Wine, Bright Gold, Seafoam Green, Cornflower Blue and Hunter Green — to create rich textures and striking contrasts.
